Aïssatou Sylla joined ASAFO & CO. in 2025 and is leading the development of our Technology, Media & Telecommunications practice.
Aïssatou brings over 15 years of experience in technology, media, and telecommunications law, with a strong focus on IT contracts, complex digital projects, artificial intelligence, privacy, cybersecurity, electronic transactions, telecommunications, copyright, database rights, personality rights and, media and entertainment (including streaming and social media).
Dually qualified in New York and Paris, she has extensive experience advising multinational corporations, governments, and regulators across both francophone and anglophone Africa.
Selected Experience*:
- Advising Citigroup in its activities in Africa, specifically on questions relating to privacy-by-design, overall data protection and cybersecurity.
- Advising the Côte d’Ivoire government in the drafting of the National Strategy for Data Governance.
- Advising the Eastern and Southern African Trade and Development Bank (TDB) on data protection, cybersecurity and IT contracts.
- Advising payment platform group, Ebanx, on data protection, including DPO services, in Africa, Middle East, Asia and the Americas.
- Advising Meta Platforms Inc. on data protection in the Middle East and Africa.
- Drafting regulations implementing the DR Congo Digital Code, including for the establishment of the National Data Protection Authority.
- Advising the audio streaming company, Spotify, in the launch of its services in over 90 jurisdictions, including 50 African countries.
- Assisting the Nigerian ICT Authority, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), with the review of the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation Implementation Framework.
- Assisting the Chad Cybersecurity and Data Protection Authority (ANSICE) with the implementation of the Chad Data Protection Act and the issuance of guidance.
