Emmanuel focuses on complex litigation and international arbitration, especially conflicts related to shareholders’ disputes, post-acquisition litigation, mining, restructuring related matters and managers’ liability. He has more than 15 years’ experience advising governments, State-owned entities, listed and non-listed French and foreign companies and their management before French national courts or regulatory authorities as well as before international arbitral tribunals.

His skill further extends to criminal law litigation and white-collar crime, where he assists and represents clients during judicial investigations and before French courts.

In addition to his work as counsel, Emmanuel is a member of professional associations in relation with his practice (Droit & Commerce; Association des Professionnels du Contentieux des Affaires; AfricArb and Association Française d’Arbitrage) and a member of the Board of Advisors of Miledou, an association whose purpose is to contribute to the development of young people through sport.

Selected Experience:

  • Representing Barrick Mining Corporation and its subsidiaries in ICSID proceedings against the Republic of Mali relating to one of the largest gold mining complexes in the world.
  • Representing BeReal, a leading social media, in its dispute before French courts against a former shareholder.
  • Representing Overseas Catering Services and its parent company in a post M&A dispute before French courts against its seller and former shareholder.
  • Representing  Europmarkets in its dispute before an arbitral tribunal constituted under the aegis of the Fosfa against a debtor in relation to the sale of Soya bean oil.
  • Representing Gécamines, a DRC State-owned entity, in ICC emergency arbitrations and international arbitral or judicial proceedings against various JV partners.
  • Representing Attijariwafa Bank Europe with the disciplinary proceeding filed by the ACPR, the French banking regulator, before its Sanctions Committee.
  • Representing the Republic of Guinea before French courts to challenge, on the ground of State immunities, many enforcement measures taken by alleged creditors.
  • Representing the Republic of Angola before French courts in relation with criminal investigations on attacks committed during the African Cup of Nations in Angola in 2010.
