With over 20 years’ experience, Julien has a long-standing practice in Africa. He is involved in all types of transactions (fundraisings, acquisitions, disposals, mergers and JVs) in Africa and internationally, on behalf of major corporations, financial institutions, investment funds and entrepreneurs. He advises international investors seeking to invest in African groups, as well as African groups seeking to broaden their shareholder base internationally. He joins ASAFO & CO. in Paris as a partner, along with an associate, Inès Abdesselem.
The arrival of Julien and Inès to ASAFO & CO’s international team, already known for its leading position in M&A/private equity in French-speaking Africa, will significantly expand the firm’s capabilities. Their experience in sub-Saharan countries, particularly in the WAEMU zone, as well as the natural synergies between the existing teams in Paris, Casablanca, Abidjan, Johannesburg and London, will enable ASAFO & CO. to continue its development in M&A and private equity.
Admitted to the Paris Bar in 2001, Julien has worked in France and the United States, most recently at the law firm he founded, Cabinet Baubigeat, as well as at a number of international law firms, including Orrick, UGGC, Linklaters and Haynes & Boone. Since 2017, Julien has been recognised in the ranking of the top 100 most influential lawyers in French-speaking Africa, published by Jeune Afrique.
